J'ai lu : the three body problem-par Liu Cixin

Je n'avais pas lu de livre de science-fiction depuis longtemps, et là, je me suis embarquée dans une saga à trois tomes, écrite par un Chinois, Liu Cixin ! La dernière saga que j'avais lue était celle d'Isaac Asimov, Fondation, et ce livre se hisse aisément au même niveau.
Le premier livre, "le problème à trois corps", en français, était passionnant, les personnages bien décrits, et on s'attache à eux malgré qu'ils ne "survivent" pas puisque les trois tomes décrivent des période différentes sur plusieurs générations. Pourquoi plusieurs générations? Le livre commence pendant la révolution culturelle en Chine et le troisième tome se terminera (je ne l'ai pas encore lu) dans un futur lointain alors que l'homme aura colonisé une partie de l'espace. Pour résumer, le déclic de l'histoire est un contact avec une civilisation extra-terrestre, les Tri-solariens. Le monde des Tri-solariens est mourant, et ils cherchent donc à partir ailleurs. Certains sur Terre veulent les accueillir à bras ouverts, car ils considèrent que la Terre (remarquez que je n'ai pas dit l'Humanité) ne peut être sauvée que par une civilisation supérieure. D'autres veulent les repousser malgré leur supériorité technologique....car les Trisolariens vivent très loin de la Terre, et il leur faudra donc au moins 400 ans avant d'arriver sur notre planète. Le temps pour les hommes de s'entre-déchirer à leur sujet, et également de développer leur technologie pour égaler ou dépasser celle des Tri-solariens.....
Ce livre me fait me poser beaucoup de questions, comme : veut-on vraiment contacter d'autres civilisations? Est-on prêts à accueillir des gens vraiment différents de nous, à la fois physiquement et mentalement? Est-ce que l'espèce humaine vaut la peine d'être sauvée?....

I had not read a science fiction book for a long time, and here I found myself reading a saga in three volumes, written by a Chinese, Liu Cixin! The latest saga I had read was that of Isaac Asimov, Foundation, and this book is easily on the same level.
The first book, "the three-body problem" was exciting, had well-described characters, and I found them endearing (the good one and the bad) despite the fact that they won't "survive" through the three volumes, since they describe different periods over several generations . Why generations? The book starts during the Cultural Revolution in China and the third book will end (I have not yet read it) in the distant future when humans have colonized a part of space. In summary, the bais of the story is a contact with an extraterrestrial civilization, the Tri-Solarans. The world of the Tri-Solarans is dying, so they try to go elsewhere. Some on Earth want to welcome them with open arms, as they consider Earth (notice I did not say mankind) can only be saved by a higher civilization. Others want to repel them despite their technological superiority .... the Trisolarans live far away from Earth, so it will take them at least 400 years to reach our planet. This gives humanity time to fight one another about the ET, and also to develop their technology to meet or exceed that of Tri-Solarans .....
This book had me ask myself many questions, such as: do we really want to contact other civilizations? Are we really ready to welcome people different from us, both physically and mentally? Is the human race worth saving? ....
